For over 15 years, Portland Dance Eclectic has taken advantage of Portland's usually ideal evening weather to host outdoor "Balls." This year, we are excited to continue this tradition with our Black and White Ball on July 27 and the Encore Ball on August 24, both held at the Multnomah Arts Center. Last year's events were well-received, and we are working to make them even better this year. These events offer a fantastic opportunity for our dance community to come together, dress up, enjoy the Portland outdoors, and dance to great music.
The evening was perfect for dancing, and everything at the Multnomah Art Center aligned to make it an ideal setting for another spectacular Black and White event.
A special thanks to Kevin for creating a shade sail that kept the glare out and gave the dance floor a golden glow. We also extend our gratitude to our floor crew—Steve, Jerome, and others—who diligently laid the floor, and to Debra, Bernice, Karen, and the rest who set up the tables.
he August 24th Encore Ball was another fantastic summer dance! Despite the forecast for cloudy skies and a slight chance of rain, the evening turned out to be perfect for dancing, with even a colorful sunset peeking through the clouds. The dance was well attended, with vibrant outfits and joyful dancing that made the night truly special. Check out photos on our website and Facebook.
For a decade, Portland Dance Eclectic hosted unforgettable Summer Balls in Director Park, a highlight of our dance calendar. These unique events brought enthusiastic dancers together in the heart of downtown Portland, creating magical moments under the city lights. This year, we made a nostalgic return to Director Park, joining forces with Dance With Joy for a series of free, joint dances. These evenings not only rekindled fond memories of our past but also offered a delightful way to spend Sunday nights, dancing and connecting with our vibrant community
The dance will be held under the roof of the basketball courts. Some positive aspects of this location are:
